In 2019, my sports journey kicked off with the Gorkhali Rugby Club, a pivotal chapter that would shape my trajectory in the world of rugby. That very year, under the guidance of the esteemed coach Krishna Thapa, a former national team captain, and with the support of seasoned teammates, I secured a silver medal in the National 7s, marking the beginning of my ascent in the sport.
Undeterred by challenges, I continued to hone my skills and dedicate myself to the game. The hard work paid off in 2021 when I clinched victory in the 1st National Bagmati Province Rugby 7s, a testament to the perseverance instilled by the sport.
The year 2022 proved to be a milestone as I made my debut as an international player during the Bangabandhu Series against Bangladesh. This marked a turning point, opening doors to further opportunities and responsibilities. In addition to playing, I embraced the role of a technical officer, contributing to the organization and smooth running of events like the Asia Rugby U-18 Sevens Tournament and U-20 Asia Rugby Sevens Tournament.
Amidst my growing list of accomplishments, 2022 saw me stand atop the podium once again, this time at the 9th National Games. The taste of victory fueled my determination, propelling me to achieve even greater heights.
The following year, 2023, brought a mix of silver and gold. A silver in the National 15s with Gorkhali Rugby Club was complemented by victories in the 2nd Bagmati Province Rugby 7s and Bagmati National 7s. The pinnacle, however, was donning the national colors at the 19th Asian Games and the Asia Rugby Sevens Tournament (ARST). The honor of representing my country on the international stage was a dream realized.
Not content with personal triumphs, I ventured to Jumla District in 2023, determined to nurture rugby talent and contribute to the sport’s growth in the Karnali Province. Coaching became a medium through which I could impart my knowledge and passion to aspiring players.
As 2024 unfolded, I took on the role of a coach once again, this time at a winter camp organized by the club. This dual perspective, both player and coach, added new dimensions to my understanding of the game, further solidifying my commitment to the sport.
My sports journey, starting from the local fields with Gorkhali Rugby Club, has been a testament to dedication, resilience, and the transformative power of rugby. From silver medals to international caps, coaching roles to victory podiums, each chapter has contributed to a narrative that goes beyond personal achievements—a story of rugby’s impact on individuals and communities.
