Gorkhali Rugby Club Emerged as the Champions of the Gorkhali Rugby Sevens Trophy 2081
Gorkhali Rugby Club emerged as the champions of the Gorkhali Rugby Sevens Trophy 2081, held on Falgun 16 and 17, 2081, at the Krishnapur Stadium, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 7, Chitwan District. The tournament was organized by Gorkhali Rugby Club.
The two-day competition featured participation from four provincial teams, two departmental teams (Army and APF), and the host team, Gorkhali Rugby Club. The tournament was conducted in a league-cum-knockout format, with a total of 12 matches played. The host team, Gorkhali, remained undefeated throughout and secured the championship title.
In the final match, Gorkhali Rugby Club triumphed over the Nepal Army team in sudden death with a score of 17–12. Captain Yadu Adhikari’s decisive try sealed the victory for Gorkhali.
The winning team received a cash prize of NPR 200,000, along with a trophy, medals, and certificates, while the runner-up team was awarded NPR 100,000, medals, and certificates. Javed from Gorkhali Rugby Club was named the tournament’s best player.
During the closing ceremony, medals and tokens of appreciation were distributed by distinguished guests, including Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Tanka Lal Ghising, President of Gorkhali Rugby Club Rohit Karki, Senior Vice President of Nepal Rugby Association Chetan Raj Giri, and other dignitaries.
